About Angel Hitti

Angel Hitti, LCSW, is a Clinical Supervisor at Columbine Behavioral Heathcare in Durango. She leads the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team, which serves adults diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness.

Angel received her Masters of Social Work from the University of Denver and began working with patients in 2013. Her specialized training includes EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), PCIT (Parent-Child Interaction Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and Substance Use Treatment.

“My professional choice came from a place of passion,” she said. “I am here to help individuals in the human experience. People can expect to be genuinely cared for and guided to greater self-understanding and healing.”

“My treatment approach is primarily CBT-based with fundamental concepts of DBT and systems theory intertwined into the work. When working with individuals I assist in understanding psychosocial development as a model to follow during treatment, which helps to identify historical complications that have led to maladaptive outcomes.”

Angel was born in Wisconsin and raised in Nevada. She was in the military and experienced a variety of the United States and overseas. She moved to Southwest Colorado in 2015 and has been practicing in the social work field locally since that time. Angel enjoys running, mountain biking and raising her children.

She offers advice for first-time clients engaging in behavioral healthcare: “Making the first step to change is an extraordinary accomplishment. Allowing someone to support you and be a part of your journey could provide more strength than you know.”
