Dear Community Members,

While 2020 may not have been the year any of us were looking for, it is now history and we are looking ahead to 2021.  There were many lessons learned, hardships endured and experiences that have, and will continue to, shape us.  The COVID-19 vaccines are now becoming available and making their way through the long pipeline necessary for a mass immunization effort, the likes of which we have never seen before.  While there is still a long road ahead, hope for a return to some normalcy is at least now on the horizon. 

As Axis Health System prepares for 2021, we recognize we do so in a world that is very different today than it was even one year ago.  In recognition of this, we have added a new vision statement and revised our mission and values to reflect our aspirations for the world as we now see it.  I wanted to share these with you as we bring in the new year:    

• Our Vision:  Axis Health System is a trusted leader in community-based healthcare by designing and providing innovative, equitable and sustainable quality care through the integration of services, resources and systems.
• Our Mission:  Axis Health System will make a meaningful difference in the health of Southwest Colorado communities, working to integrate all aspects of healthcare and treat the whole person.
• Our Values:  Axis Health System has identified five key themes our values are based on: providing quality, accessible and affordable healthcare; engaging patients as partners in a culturally competent and equitable manner; encouraging creativity and innovation as part of our culture; maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards in the pursuit of excellence; and treating everyone with loyalty, respect and dignity.      

In the year ahead, we will use our vision, mission and values to guide our rebuilding efforts, while learning from the suffering, loss, uncertainty and adaptation we have come through in 2020.  We are committed to continuing our collaborative work with our community partners to make sure the future we build together is better for all.
