In partnership with Colorado Spirit, Axis Health System’s Community Counseling Program (CCP) traveled to Silverton to share the program’s offerings with local businesses and residents of San Juan County.

“It was really powerful to walk into a community, be welcomed, have people open up about their struggles or the challenges they have witnessed in others, have them be heard, and be able to offer them services that will work for them,” said Sadie Vowell, CCP Outreach Specialist. “Our program is all about flexibility and meeting people where they are. Whether that means holding space for them, teaching skills, meeting them in person, hosting virtual conversations… we’re here for them, and I think they heard that message and took it to heart.”

Through conversation with the locals, the CCP team was able to connect with 20 businesses, talk to 27 people about the program, and put up nearly 40 flyers in business windows to continue raising awareness about the offerings available to the community.

“A lot of the people we talked to sounded excited about our services. We were very well received and anticipate doing more outreach in Silverton,” said Shea Anderson, CCP Community Counselor.

The CCP team offers a range of services, all provided at no cost and confidentially. Some of their services include individual, family, and group sessions with their trained community counselors, connection to resources, and skills trainings that cover resiliency, psychological first aid, and more.

If you or anyone you know is interested in using the CCP services, please do not hesitate to call the team directly at 970.828.6004.
