What is teletherapy?

TeletherapyTeletherapy is a mental health service that is provided by using long-distance technologies so that clients and therapists do not have to be in the same place at the same time. At The Center for Mental Health, we use HIPAA-compliant, end-to-end encrypted technology to provide secure televideo therapy services so that clients can reach their providers wherever the provider may be.

What are the benefits of teletherapy?

Research has indicated that teletherapy is as good as in-person therapy and is therefore a viable alternative if an in-person session is not possible.¹

At The Center for Mental Health, our case managers, therapists, and medical providers are located all over the region. Through teletherapy, you can connect with the provider who is right for you no matter where they are. Another benefit: it can lessen your out of pocket costs—it may be easier to find a therapist who takes your insurance, even if they’re located at a distance.

What should I expect from a teletherapy session?

Teletherapy sessions are scheduled just like regular therapy or psychiatric appointments. These services are available from all The Center for Mental Health outpatient locations, as well as some integrated locations.

At your chosen The Center for Mental Health location, you would meet with a medical care manager in person who would assist you in connecting to your therapist via secure, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing. Your session would be virtually the same as if it was being conducted in-person.
