FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Axis Health System Launches Walk-In Psychiatry Services at Durango Regional Crisis Center

DURANGO, Colo. — Axis Health System is expanding access to behavioral healthcare by launching Walk-In Psychiatry at the Regional Crisis Center (RCC) in Durango. Beginning immediately, individuals can receive psychiatric services Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., without an appointment.

The new service is designed to provide timely access for individuals experiencing urgent mental health concerns who may benefit from a psychiatric evaluation, and prescription of medication. By offering same-day access, Axis aims to help individuals receive care earlier, reducing delays that can lead to worsening symptoms or behavioral health crises. Every individual who presents for Walk-In Psychiatry will first receive a behavioral health screening conducted by a member of the clinical team. This screening helps determine the most appropriate level of care and whether same-day psychiatric services are clinically indicated. Some individuals may be connected with other behavioral health services, scheduled for follow-up care, or referred to another provider based on their specific needs.

“Our goal is to make it easier for people to take that first step toward better mental health. Whether someone is experiencing new symptoms, needs support managing an existing condition, or has questions about treatment, we’re here to listen, provide expert psychiatric care, and help connect them with the ongoing services that best meet their needs,” said Dr. Fredi Prochoda, Axis’ Vice President of Psychiatry Services.

Walk-In Psychiatry is available for individuals who need:

  • Psychiatric evaluations (with prescription of medications if appropriate)
  • Support for new or worsening behavioral health symptoms between appointments
  • Assistance connecting to ongoing behavioral health services

Axis is also pleased to welcome Dr. Molly Glauner, DNP, PMHNP, to the Regional Crisis Center team. As the newest psychiatric provider, Dr. Glauner will provide psychiatric evaluations and medication prescriptions as appropriate for individuals accessing Walk-In Psychiatry services. Her expertise expands the Crisis Center’s ability to provide timely behavioral healthcare and connect patients with ongoing treatment and support when needed.

The service is part of Axis’ continued efforts to improve access to behavioral healthcare across Southwest Colorado and complements the Regional Crisis Center’s existing 24/7 crisis services.

Please note that Walk-In Psychiatry does not prescribe stimulant medications. Individuals seeking evaluation for ADHD, or prescription of stimulant medications, will be connected with an appropriate primary care provider or other resource for ongoing treatment.

The Regional Crisis Center provides a welcoming, recovery-oriented environment where individuals can access behavioral health services before concerns escalate into a crisis requiring emergency care.
