Axis Health System is working to bring awareness about preventing suicide in our communities.

Whether you know someone who has died by suicide or if you have experienced suicidal ideation yourself, it is hard to find someone who hasn’t been affected by this condition. Suicide is preventable, and Axis is committed to helping stop suicide in our rural communities.

Stopping suicide takes the work of the whole community, so this September, we are asking you to get involved and learn how to help. Axis offers free training opportunities to encourage our community members to learn how to help someone experiencing a mental health crisis.

Mental Health First Aid

Much like CPR for the brain, Mental Health First Aid teaches its participants how to help someone in crisis and connect them to the qualified support they need. Mental Health First Aid enables its graduates to be a lifeline and gives them the tools that could help save a life. Mental Health First Aid is FREE and available to individuals, businesses, and organizations who want to learn this life-saving resource or provide it for their staff.

Question Persuade Refer Gatekeeper Training

Axis offers Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR), a free 1 ½ hour course that shows you the three steps to help someone experiencing suicidal thoughts or a mental health crisis. Virtual and in-person training opportunities for Mental Health First Aid and QPR are available every month.

If you want to learn more about either Mental Health First Aid or QPR or are interested in scheduling a training for your organization, contact

Suicide is preventable. Research shows that talking about it can help. This September, break the stigma, talk about suicide, and learn to be a community resource.
